What is a Trader Goods Profile

A Trader Goods Profile holds information about goods you move regularly from Great Britain to Northern Ireland. You can use these records to pre-populate some information on the IMMI.

HMRC will create your Trader Goods Profile once you have been authorised for the UK Internal Market Scheme.

Before you start

Before you link your Trader Goods Profile, the administrator of your Trader Support Service account must make sure that:

Only the account administrator can complete the authorisation process to give the Trader Support Service access to the Trader Goods Profile.

Register your TGP with HMRC

Sign in to your Government Gateway account. Use the same credentials linked to your UKIMS authorisation.

Your UKIMS authorisation and Government Gateway account must have the same EORI number; otherwise, you will not be able to provide access to your Trader Goods Profile.

Register your business to use the TGP service by providing your UKIMS details. HMRC will then activate the access to your TGP.

Upload your UKIMS authorisation

Sign in to your Trader Support Service account

  1. Select View company profile in the menu.
  2. Go to the UK internal market scheme (UKIMS) section and select Change
  3. Fill in your UKIMS authorisation reference
  4. Fill in the EORI number linked to your UKIMS authorisation
  5. Upload your UKIMS authorisation letter from HMRC.
  6. Check your answers and, if correct, select Complete and submit.

The Trader Support Service will then use this information to check your UKIMS status.

The UKIMS status in your company profile will appear in Pending Verification until it has been accepted.

You can continue to the next step while your UKIMS status is Pending Verification.

Authorise the Trader Support Service to access your TGP

  1. Go to your company profile
  2. Go to the Trader goods profile section and select Change
  3. Select Turn on TGP and provide the details requested by HMRC
  4. Select Continue to allow the Trader Support Service software to connect with HMRC
  5. Select Sign in to the HMRC online service - you will be taken to HMRC
  6. Enter your user ID and password and sign in
  7. Select Give permission

The Trader Support Service can now access your Trader Goods Profile.

Go back to the Trader Goods Profile section in your company profile. The status should display:

  • Enabled trader goods profile: Yes
  • Trader goods profile open access for third parties: No

The Trader Support Service is now linked to your Trader Goods Profile. This means you can use your Trader Goods Profile records to pre-populate some of the information on the IMMI.

While your UKIMS authorisation is in Pending Verification status an IMMI cannot be created, even if you have granted access to your TGP.
